Song For Africa Rwanda: Rises Up! In Stores Today

June 22, 2010

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that the Song For Africa Rwanda: Rises Up! album is now in stores and available on iTunes. The track I contributed to the album is an instrumental version of our song Yearning. Using samples recorded by SFA in Rwanda last fall, Jeff Heisholt and I created a rhythm track that went along with an acoustic arrangement that I had for Yearning. Since it is technically collaboration between Rwandan musicians and myself and it is billed as John-Angus MacDonald featuring ITORERO, pretty cool eh? This is a really exciting project that I really believe in and it features all kinds of great music by a bunch of cool Canadian artists. I recommend checking it out - just click on the banner below.

Peace,
JA

The Trews Welcome A New Addition

June 17, 2010

At 11:38 last night Jack Syperek became the proud papa of healthy and beautiful 8lb.1oz baby boy. Missus Sippy is doing great, everyone is healthy and happy. However, his new paternal duties will prevent Jack from being able to join us onstage for the Burlington Sound of Music Festival tomorrow night. Big Ben Richardson, of Grady fame, has offered to step up and fill these rather large bass playin' boots. It promises to be a fun and impromptu night of music.

Congratulations again to Jack and Sarah!! See the rest of you tomorrow night.

THE TREWS TO RELEASE BENEFIT SINGLE
"HIGHWAY OF HEROES" AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY AT iTunes MAY 18

May 4, 2010

The Trews have recorded a song reflecting their patriot goodwill in the form of "Highway of Heroes", which musically captures the poignancy of the return of fallen members of Canada's armed forces serving in Afghanistan. The single will be serviced to radio May 14 and will be available for purchase exclusively through iTunes May 18. Net proceeds from sales will benefit the Canadian Hero Fund (herofund.ca), an organization that assists the families of Canadian military personnel through academic scholarships.

The song was co-written and co-produced by The Trews and Gordie Johnson (Big Sugar) and was inspired by the 2006 death of Captain Nichola Goddard from The Trews' hometown of Antigonish, NS, who returned from duty along Canada's Highway of Heroes, the section of the MacDonald-Cartier freeway named to honour those who have sacrificed all in service of country.

"This past fall, Colin and I were reminded of Nichola's story via our mother, who had taught her at school," explains guitarist/vocalist John-Angus MacDonald of the inspiration behind the single. "While writing the song we decided to zoom out from the specific details of Nichola's story and make it more general, dedicating it to all soldiers past, present and future who are carried home on the Highway of Heroes. Afterward, we further felt compelled to do something with it that might benefit those who serve and those they leave behind. The Canadian Hero Fund was the most natural place to direct the proceeds."

To donate to the Canadian Hero Fund, please go to herofund.ca. or send an email to info@herofund.ca

Greetings from the Great White North

April 12, 2010

Wow what an amazing weekend in beautiful Iqaluit, Nunavut!! Never been that far north in my life. Music is a magical thing that can transport a group of small town dudes from the Middle East to the Arctic in the span of a just couple of months... incredible really, we feel very blessed. First of all thank you to our promoter Neil Myers who gave us a thorough tour of this spectacular city. We sat in igloos, met the infamous smiling Kitty (who has appeared on the cover of National Geographic), watched uphill skidoo races, drank with the locals at the Legion, ate caribou and raw arctic char, bought soap stone souvenirs and played two shows in 36 hours (one acoustic show at the local youth center and one electric blow out at the local rink). Thank you to everyone who came and rocked out with us, we really had a blast.

It truly is awe inspiring to look out over the tundra, if you ever get a chance to do it....I recommend!! We've compiled a few photos of our trip we hope you dig !!

Young Artists For Haiti

March 12, 2010

Hey Folks,

Colin here, I hope all is well. A few weeks ago I was out in Vancouver playing a gig for the Olympics, it just so happened that at the same time a bunch of fellow Canadian musicians were out there collaborating on a song for Haiti. They asked me if I'd be interested in lending my voice to the chorus. It was a reworked song by K'Naan called Wavin' Flag to include specific lyrics for Haiti. It's Canada's musical contribution to help raise money for Haiti following the devastating earthquake. I was a fortunate to sing alongside Sam Roberts, Tom Cochrane and many other Canuck rockers. If you look real close you might be able to see me in the choir. It is a great song for a great cause.

If you can support this great cause, head on over to www.youngartistsforhaiti .net to purchase the digital single. You can also get the video and single from iTunes and get more info on the Young Artists For Haiti Facebook page.

Thanks to everyone who signed up for the contest, for your continued support of the band and congratulations again to our winner Paul Walsh!

Sing Your Heart Out

September 8, 2009

Dear Trewbees,

Our new single Sing Your Heart Out is available for purchase today from iTunes. Those of you who have seen us live over the past few months will recognize this song from the set but this particular version (pulled from our Trews Acoustic- Friends and Total Strangers album due out October 6th) I'm particularly fond of as it was re-mixed by our good buddy Mike Fraser (who's credentials are too plentiful to list...google him...)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. For those of you living outside of Canada, you can still get in on the action by purchasing our new single from the little widget above. Enjoy.

See you on the road.

New Single Now At Radio

September 2, 2009

Hey folks,

Colin here, I'm writing to let you know that as of today we're releasing a new single to radio called 'Sing Your Heart Out'. This song was written for some acoustic shows we did at the beginning of the year.

Before I go any further let me start with a bit of back story. Last November we took a trip to Japan with some other Canadian acts to showcase for the Japanese music industry. In the planning stages we realized that it would be way to expensive to ship all of our gear halfway across the world, so instead we decided to strip it down and just bring two acoustic guitars, a bass, a hand drum and our four voices.

And now for some way back story. When we first started playing all those years ago in Niagara Falls we used to busk as an acoustic four piece to make extra money, we would always make a couple hundred bucks for a an hour or two of playing, so we figured we had something good going on.

Back to the back story....we went over to Tokyo and played at the Oscar Peterson Theatre in the Canadian Embassy and it went over smashingly!! A lot of the Canadians in the audience even mentioned that they preferred us acoustically. It felt great and given the positive response we figured we should let our Canadian fans in on the action.

When we came back to Canada we immediately started planning for a couple of shows in January at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, ON. Luckily, around the same time, our manager was in contact with Tim Martin at Frame Blender, a multi media company and asked if he was interested in doing a live concert shoot of our band. We told him about our plans for upcoming acoustic shows and we both thought this would be great content for a DVD. We figured since we were going to make a CD, we might as well shoot it for a potential live DVD. After a couple of very special nights at the Glenn Gould Studio, we felt we had something really cool.

So that brings me to today. Next month we will be releasing a live 15 song acoustic CD, that features highlights from those two special nights. This CD will be accompanied by a live DVD which will have the full 23 song set list as well as some cool documentary footage and some bonus features. We think this is really cool and we hope all you awesome Trews fans will dig the hell out of it!!

Oh and if any of you beautiful people get a chance to call your local radio station and request the latest single, Sing Your Heart Out, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Peace
Colin

RIP Les Paul

August 18, 2009

In the summer of 2005, as we were preparing to release Den of Thieves, we found ourselves with a rainy Monday night off in New York City. Scouring the local rags to find something to do Jack and I discovered that Les Paul was doing his weekly gig at Iridium in Time Square. We rushed over there in the rain with my newly acquired 76 Les Paul Custom in tow (I had heard through the grapevine that if you stuck around after his show you might get a chance to meet him and I didn't want to miss a chance to have Les Paul sign one of my Les Pauls!) As we were waiting in line to get in we bumped into Mark Knopfler who was also waiting in line, this is the kind of audience such a legend attracts. We got in there and found a seat. For the next few hours we were entertained by Les and his band doing their set of jazz standards and by Les regaling the audience with the most incredible stories and jokes.

He was like rock'n'rolls' grandpa telling old stories and giving sage advice. It was fantastic! When the show finished, as promised, a queue began to form at the back of the room and, after a short wait, out came Les Paul. He sat down at he head of the line and began signing autographs, taking pictures and shaking hands. And by that time the line up had grown to include just about everybody in the house that night. He must have sat there meeting and greeting for over two hours. Imagine that! This man was 90 years old at the time and had just performed a two hour show! I know bands in there twenties who wouldn't do that (I decided on that day that I would never again be "too tired" after a show to go out and spend some time with the people who came out to see us). Finally our time came and I broke out my guitar, which he personalized (" To John-Angus, Keep Rocking LES PAUL!" -I took that advice to heart...) Unfortunately the picture posted below (which Jack snapped) was taken on my shitty cell phone camera (I remembered the guitar but not the camera!) so it's a little fuzzy but I'm glad to have it nonetheless.

I'm still floored when I think back to that night. A man who's early career accomplishments alone had already cemented his status as quite possibly the most important inventive genius in modern musics (and I don't say that simply as a huge Gibson Les Paul fan, I mean 8 track recording.... where would we be without that?) was still up there, at 90, playing his heart out and loving it!...if we could all be so lucky...or so brilliant.

Anybody who's ever recorded or performed rock'n'roll owe their career to this man.

RIP Les Paul.

US Tour Update

July 27, 2009

Hey folks,

All is well in America's North East!! We've been touring to appreciative audiences throughout and we're having a blast. ZO2 are a great bunch of guys and they play great party rock'n'roll. The other night we showed up at a hotel in Asbury Park, NJ and it turned out that the hotel was hosting a diva dodge ball tournament. Just throwing that out there! After the show we went for drinks at the diva dance party, once again just throwing that out there. Every so often I'm reminded why I love this job so much.

Colin

Thank You USA!

Somewhere Between Wisconsin & Illinois

June 22, 2009

Apocalyptic death clouds where hovering on the horizon of a dark green sky. Winds where blowing in from the North throwing the rain in every direction. We were on the I 94 heading for Milwaukee, when a woman at a tollbooth told us that Tornadoes where touching down 4 miles to the southeast. The torrential rain pummeled the van and the window wipers couldn't keep up. We had no choice but to get off the highway or drive blindly down the speeding road into an inevitable death trap. We pulled off on the first available exit and proceeded cautiously down the country road.

Overwhelmed by the downpour of biblical proportions and narrowly avoiding a head on collision with fellow overwhelmed travelers, we sought shelter on the entranceway of what seemed to be some sort of country club. We pulled up to the locked gate and waited helplessly as the storm had its way with us. With the fear of God in our souls we made nervous small talk and irrelevant comments as the van was being pushed to its tipping point by the ferocious winds.

Being so distracted by Mother Nature's reminder of our ultimate insignificance, we did not notice the Illinois state Trooper pull up behind the van. The car pulled up to the drivers side window and asked our captain, John Angus, "what are you boys doing parked here in front of this supposed country club" John Angus responded "Sir we're just a bunch of weary travelers taking shelter from the storm. The highway had one to many near death experiences for my liking, so I figured we'd get off the dark highway and let this storm run itself out". The officer said nothing and backed up until he could get a look at our license plate. Minutes later he got out of his car with his gun drawn and approached the driver side window again. He said "dispatch has been getting calls about alarms going off at this supposed country club up the road, how do I know that you guys aren't robbing this place. What if your buddies are up the road ripping off the club and you guys are here waiting for them". With his gun in hand he asked to see all of our id. He went back to his car to check us out. In the meantime the storm had died down and another two officers showed up. We managed to replace fear of Mother Nature with the fear of the strong arm of the law. The policemen opened up the gate and drove up the road to the supposed country club. We waited for another half hour, after already being there for an hour, while they checked out the scene of the speculative crime. Upon their return, the officer's paranoid and menacing demeanor had changed to one of relief and friendliness. He said, "Sorry guys, I've made a mistake, the alarms at the supposed country club were being set off by the thunder and the lightning. Here are your id's back.

Wow talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time!! "Well put officer and no shit and thank you, I mean thank you for pulling your gun on us weather beaten, terrified Canadian musicians" we all said in our minds. As the Comedy of errors was reaching it's 'sigh of relief' conclusion, we realized that the battery had died on our van. Luckily the officers had yet to leave and offered to give us a boost as pay back for threatening to shoot us. By then the storm had ended and we carried on to our show in Wisconsin.

We Have A New Video

May 27, 2009

The video for "I Can't Stop Laughing" comes out this week (you can catch it on MuchMoreMusic and MuchLOUD). In the meantime, we are premiering it on our You Tube channel. It was shot at our old Niagara Falls hang out "The Highland Tap" and features a whole cast of our Niagara Falls friends and family. We brought in George Vale for some directorial help and had a hell of a time shooting it. We hope it is as fun to watch as it was to make. Oh, and it stars our keyboardist Jeff Heisholt as our piper.....hilarious!

We are continuing to tour throughout the summer and hope we get to see each an every one of you out there on the road. Canada in the summer is a great thing... See you soon.

No Time For Later in America

April 7, 2009

Hey folks,

Colin here writing to you from just outside Fort Collins, Colorado. We've been having a good time here in the US of A, the crowds have been small but appreciative, we're hoping they'll tell two friends then those friends will tell two friends and then those friends will tell two friends and so on and so on.....you get it.

We've been riding in style on the Gibson tour bus which has definitely been a bonus. We drove eighteen hours from San Francisco to do a show in Vail, Colorado only to find out about an hour outside of Vail that the mountain road into town was closed due to weather. Fortunately it opened later that afternoon and we made the gig. Denver was a lot of fun, we played a cool little bar called the Walnut room.

Today is the official release of No Time For Later in America. Calling all American Trews fans head down to your local record store and pick up a copy. See you on the road!!!

The Tragically Hip & The Trews

March 3, 2009

Hey there Trews fans,

Colin here. The Tragically Hip just announced there touring plans for 2009. The reason I mention this is because one of the shows on their latest tour involves The Trews. On May 23, 2009, we will be opening for The Hip in Kingston, Ontario. There is also a benefit element to this gig supporting our dear friend Glen Williams, which we are honored to be a part of.

As a special offer to our fans, you can purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public. Tickets will be available as of Wednesday, March 4th. If you want to experience a night of great rock n roll, get your tickets here. Check the Calendar section of our site for all the details.

February 16, 2009

Thank you to all the fans who made it out to our show at the Town Ballroom in Buffalo, New York last Friday. We had an amazing time and we all feel as though it was one of the best shows we've ever played.

I couldn't get over how much the crowd was singing along to most of the tunes. You really know how to help a singer save his throat!!

Also thanks to Jay Andreeff for organizing the pre show meet and greet, it was nice seeing some familiar faces and meeting new fans. Once again we can't thank you guys enough you're all awesome!!

An Acoustic Evening With The Trews

January 5, 2009

Hey folks,

Hope you all had a great holiday season. I'm just dropping you a line to let you know about an upcoming Trews acoustic show at the end of this month. On January 30th we'll be taking the stage at the Glenn Gould Studio in downtown Toronto.

We'll be recording the show and releasing it this year as an official acoustic album. The set list will combine old favorites, unreleased b-sides and album tracks that we don't play at the electric shows.

We're currently writing some new material so we might even include a couple of brand spanking new tunes to showcase. The Glenn Gould Studio has amazing acoustics and the setting is cozy and intimate. There are limited tickets available so snatch em up while you can. Hope to see you there. Bye for now.

Colin

Happy Holidays

December 15, 2008

I hope everybody is enjoying the season. We have a few things happening this week I thought you all might like to know about. On Tuesday we're going to be dropping by Iceberg Radio (part of Sirius Satellite Radio) for an acoustic performance and to reprise our role as guest hosts for an hour. Iceberg has placed three of our songs in their Top 85 songs of '08 including two in the top ten! We're humbled by their overwhelming support and look forward to stopping by to say hello to everyone over there.

Also, for our fans living in Toronto, we hope you will all join us at the Phoenix Concert Theatre on Thursday Dec. 18 as part of The Edge Electric Xmas concert series to raise money for the Daily Bread Food Bank. I don't need to tell you how important a cause this is, especially this time of year. Mobile will be joining us on the bill so bring your festive spirit and let's make this the rockingest Xmas party of the season!!

See you soon.

From Tokyo to Membertou

November 19, 2008

As I write this we are on our way to Membertou, NS to perform at the convention center en route from Tokyo. It was a crazy week in Tokyo, complete with an all night, full band Karaoke session and hanging and performing at the Canadian embassy. We'll post some pictures for you ASAP.

I wanted to write you to tell you about a few other cool things that are going on. First off, on Nov. 16 a new video game called Shaun White Snowboarding was released and features our song "Every Inambition", an oldie but a goodie along with several other great tunes. You can check it out here.

Secondly, when we get back from this little East Coast jaunt, on Nov. 24th we will be busking at the Eaton Center as part of Busking For Change to raise money for War Child. We will be busking in front of Sears. The area is called "Trinity Way" at 4pm for about an hour. It would be great if as many of you as possible could make it out to help raise money for this great cause.

Until next time, peace and love.

From Tokyo With Love

November 12, 2008

As I write this it's tomorrow in Tokyo. We're here performing at the Canadian Music Mission to Asia conference. So far this place is blowing my mind. It's like a Buddhist New York city. We literally walked the streets yesterday for twelve hours, there is so much to see it's overwhelming. The people are amazing and the food is excellent. My first impression: a busy, peaceful and beautiful place. We're here for a few more days so I'm sure I'll have more to tell in a future blog.

So we have some wicked news on a couple of fronts folks!!! First of all we've received a nomination from the Independent Music Awards south of the border. It seems our rocking little number Hold Me In Your Arms made the short list for the best hard rock song for the 8th annual independent music awards program. This is really cool considering we haven't even released our latest album in the states (it's going to be released soon) and the song was picked from thousands of submissions. So awesome!!!

We've also just got word that the video for Man of Two Minds made it to number 1 on the MuchMoreMusic countdown. Thank you MuchMoreMusic, our fans and of course our dedicated street team for making it possible.

Also thanks to all the folks who made it out to our acoustic show in Barrie, we had a blast and I hope you did too. Also want to give a shout out to Brad Ariss for winning the remix contest. Hope you like the autographed guitar.

Also check out an interview on "Uncovered", a new feature with Alan Cross (Ongoing History of New Music) on CFOX, FM 96, Power 97 and The Edge 102.1.

And finally, we just announced a last minute acoustic show in Barrie, ON. Our shows in Japan next month are acoustic so we figured we'd warm up for the big trip by playing in front of our beloved Canadian fans. Hope to see each and everyone of yas!!

New Single & Video Coming

September 5, 2008

Hey everyone,

It's Colin. I'm just updating you on the latest happenings in the world of the Trews. I am sitting in a hotel room in Fredericton, New Brunswick, we are in the midst of an east coast club and campus tour... So ya we're touring for a change.

While Paranoid Freak is holding steady on the Canadian Rock Charts, we are releasing a new single from the album. This week Man of Two Minds is going to radio across the country.

You know the drill folks, we do our part by making the music and playing the shows, you do your part by calling you're local radio stations and requesting our songs. We also shot a video with acclaimed director Don Allan and co-director Sammy Rawal in downtown Toronto. That should be at the nations music station in the next couple of weeks.

We're still going hard and working our butts off, with a lot of work and a little luck we can keep kicking ass with this new record. So get on the line and request the song because "Hope won't get our motherfucking band played!!!" (little John Stewart reference).

The way I see it the more success we have at radio the more opportunities we have to come out and play for all you amazing fans!!!

All the best as always

Colin

We've also announced some East Coast and Quebec dates so check out our tour page to find out the where and when.

Until next time

Remix Contest

July 28, 2008

So we've had an amazing summer so far. We've returned to pretty much every major Canadian city that we hit on our spring tour for some kind of summer festival and even played some new towns for the first time (hello Bonnyville!!....Brooks Rock City!).

Some highlights of the summer, so far, include meeting Gene Simmons in Edmonton last week (two members of KISS down, two to go) and rocking Trafalgar Square for a couple thousand people on Canada Day in the UK.

But I digress, I'm posting to tell you about this campaign we're launching which involves you remixing two of our songs "Paranoid Freak" and "Hold Me in Your Arms"

I will personally be checking out all the submissions and picking a winner. I'm looking for the most "out there" interpretations, as I'm pretty familiar with the tracks as they are, so feel free to get creative. I may even post one myself.

So SIGN UP HERE and happy mixing. May the best would-be producers win!

Until next time
JA

Good Times Bad Times

June 5, 2008

We had an interesting run of gigs that led us out East a few weeks back. Everything started out on the right foot with a sold out show at the Capitol Music Hall in Ottawa that went off without a hitch.

In fact it was quite a successful sweaty little rock show. Then came Montreal. We were thrilled to get back to the biggest city in "La Belle Province" as it had been a couple of years since our last show there. It was a beautiful day and we spent most of it walking around downtown taking in the sights, sounds, and smells. The show was also good. A little lighter in attendance than we've had in the past but maybe they were just punishing us for staying away for so long - it won't happen again I promise!!

We met a cool new band called Spoon River who opened the show for us and we had a lot of fun with those who turned out. But unfortunately after the show our van was broken into. It was a real smash and grab job. The crew had only left it unattended for a few minutes during which time someone smashed the back window and made off with our guitar tech Steve's bag containing his laptop and other important things. That really put a damper on the trip as we were heading off to Gagetown (a nine hour drive) the following morning. There's something about a cardboard window held on with duct tape that's just not very comforting, Thanks a lot whoever you are!!!

5 coffees, 183 tunes, 4 pee breaks, 2 repatching jobs and nine hours later we made it to Gagetown, a military base about 30 km outside of Fredricton. They were putting on a show in honor of their 50th anniversary as a base and let me tell ya, nobody pulls of a party with more precision than the military.

We had a chance to catch up with our friends in Matt Mays and El Torpedo who were also on the bill and are in fine form. Major props to the fine folks out in Gagetown for pulling this off and for the fine job they do everyday protecting the country.

The next day we drove down the road to Saint John, NB were we performed an outdoor show in Market Square as part of a telethon to raise money for the IWK Children's Hospital. Unfortunately, and in typical East Coast fashion, the weather couldn't have been and worse!

There was rain that seamed to be falling from every angle and it came down HARD! That combined with cold temperatures and high winds made for quite possibly the worst setting for an outdoor rock show. Luckily we were covered (or I may not be alive to write this) and I wish I could say the same for the people who turned out but these people stood out there through the cold rain and wind and rocked out with us for an hour and a half!! How cool is that?

I gotta say that I have nothing but infinite love and respect for those who stood outside in this weather for our entire set in support of this great cause. When it was all said and done the telethon raised 5 million dollars and we couldn't be happier to have been a part of it. And in the end it's those kinds of show that stick with you.

As I right this we're back to the US for a few more shows. Until next time...

Paranoid Freak Video

May 22, 2008

Hey there Trews fans, check out our freaky new video for our current single Paranoid Freak. In case you haven't been to a show in a while, the newest Trews member on the keyboards in the opening shot is Jeff Heisholt. You might recognize our video's protagonist as the guy from the latest string of Rogers commercials. Not that we're endorsing Rogers or anything, we just thought the guy in the commercials made a good ..um.. paranoid freak.

We are thrilled to have yet another video added in heavy rotation at our nations music station...it really helps us keep the Trews bus rolling...thank you MuchMusic!!!

Now the rest of the work is up to you, our beloved fans, you can help us to keep this thing going by requesting the song at Muchmusic and at radio. Once again thank you for your continued support...we love you...no really...WE LOVE YOU!!!

We Love It!

April 21, 2008

Vancouver...we love it!!! Whistler....we love it!!! Kelowna...we love it!!! Edmonton...we love it!!! we love it!!! we love it!!! We've had a seriously great start to the tour out here on the West Coast.

The Commodore was a hoot despite the jet lag and it being the first show of the tour. Whistler and Kelowna where a lot of fun and I think Edmonton was the best show so far.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out and and supported us. The enthusiasm levels of the audiences have given us more energy than ten red bulls, so thank you for that. I hope you're liking the new material and the light show, it's been a blast so far, I'm looking forward to Calgary tonight!!!

Talk to you soon
Colin

Canadian Tour Starts Today ..."Alright, let's get started"

April 14, 2008

So we finished up our tour with Ace in New York City and we were stoked for it was the best response we've had from a New York crowd yet!! After the show some dude from the Kiss Army approached me to talk about our set; He said "You guys are a really great band but you should keep your politics to yourself, we don't appreciate you Canadians having opinions on our gun control laws. My sister's in the third row and she wants to kick your ass!!" and I was like "You're sister wants to kick my ass? Why don't you want to kick my ass?" So I was thinking his sister must have been a body builder or something. Luckily I didn't hear from the disgruntled fan or his potentially dangerous sister for the rest of the night...I was very glad about that, I don't know how I would deal with his sister trying to kick my ass. All in all the Frehley tour was a great experience, his band and crew where more than accommodating and most of his crowds seemed to really like us...so...cool.

Shortly after the gig we hopped on our bus to make our escape from New York and head for Toronto in order to catch a plane to Cuba. Unfortunately, like last year, it wasn't going to be that easy. We hit a couple of crater sized potholes heading under the Lincoln Tunnel and something in the bus engine blew up. So it was all about another last minute contingency plan. Once again we where stuck in New York with a trip to Cuba around the corner and we weren't sure how we where going to make it. Our road manager Tod leaped into action and managed to find us some early flights out of LaGuardia airport. The funny thing about this was that the bus had broken down ten minutes from an airport only it was Newark. So we jumped in cabs and sped off towards the airport that was about forty five minutes away. We got there fifteen minutes past the required one hour check in time and the agent wouldn't let us on the flight. After a colorful exchange between the agent and John Angus we resolved to fly stand by on later flights. We've got bad luck when it comes to getting out of New York and traveling to Cuba. We eventually got to Cuba late the next night and had a great week with some awesome friends and fans from across Canada.

Which brings me up to today. We start our Canadian tour today out in Vancouver. We're all really looking forward to it, between our new keyboard player and our new light show it should be one hell of a time. So we're looking forward to seeing some crazy canuck fans over the next few weeks. I hope we can keep our karma good and avoid any more unnecessary mishaps, but if they are to occur you'll be the first to know...Take care

Colin

# 1 Video On MuchMusic

April 3, 2008

Got to say it's pretty cool hitting number one the MuchMusic Countdown, thanks to everyone who called in to request the video. Who would of thought a bunch of scruffy dudes from the East Coast would beat out Britney... I'm sure it's the least of her worries right now.

We try not to get too caught up in the charts, cause more often than not it's a let down... but fuck it in the words of that singer from Almost Famous "I am going to enjoy this".

We played a show in Williamsville, NY last night and the crowd was off the hook, thanks so much to all who graced us with their presence. Nothing beats the feeling of a crowd singing along to every word of 'Ishmael and Maggie'.

On one more note our new single "Paranoid Freak" just shipped to radio this week so it would be super cool if you called in a requested it at your local station. Anyway I have to run, until next time, keep being your wonderful selves.

Hello From Sunny SoCal

March 23, 2008

Hey everyone how's it going? It's Colin here just dropping you a line from sunny California. It's Easter Sunday and we're heading into San Diego for a day off, I think we're going to hit up a zoo or something. The shows have been going well and the weather is beautiful....life is good.

We had a great four date headlining run through Alberta, all the shows where sold out, so I'd like to thank all the Albertans who made it out to the gigs.

The Canadian tour is just around the corner we're looking forward to seeing more great Canadian crowds, nothing beats rocking in the homeland. Anyway I really don't have much else to say I guess I'm just checking in to make sure you're all okay!

Peace

Another Update From The Road

March 11, 2008

Hey Everyone,

Trews here checking in from the road, somewhere between Minneapolis and Fargo, narrowly avoiding death at every turn. We're back on the Ace train and the going is good. We played Detroit Rock City the other night and the crowd was off the hook. Our set is getting pretty slammin' as we get familiar with the Ace crowd and them with us. Their band and crew are amazing too. They're keeping us well nourished and well furnished with the finest of rock'n'roll DVDs for our bus. Just yesterday NightBob (Aces' sound guy) gave us 60's Yardbirds, 70's Jeff Beck and some early Who TV appearances. Good stuff to keep you inspired.

As we continue to head west through the snowy flatlands we really look forward to hitting the West coast as this long-ass winter has definitely taken its toll on our health and we could really use some fun in the warm California sun.

On another note, thanks to everyone who rushed out to buy the new album so promptly. Things are really going well and it's all thanks to you guys! You really do rock.

After we wrap up this US run with Ace we'll be heading to Cuba (more fun in the sun) to re-charge our batteries for the Canadian tour. We'll be pulling out all the stops for the tour and there will definitely be some new surprises in the set so we're going to need our strength. Until next time, stay cool.

Update From The Road

February 26, 2008

Hey Everybody,

We are currently in the back of a tour bus heading to Sauget, IL on the first week of our American tour with Ace Frehley. Last Wendesday was our first show with Ace in Baltimore. MD and it was pretty cool. It took the audience a few songs to warm up to us but by the end of the set, they were digging it. Ace and his band are great, they are doing all kinds of Kiss classics, Ace even does the smoking guitar bit.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our CD release party last Tuesday. As you may or may not have noticed Colin had bronchitus so he was unable to really sing and he mentioned it about forty times during the show!

We appreciate you guys helping him out by singing along, it really made the show great. We know every band says this but we're going to say it anyway, you are the best fans in the world, we couldn't have done it without you. That being said you won't be getting paid for your vocal duties but um...let's just leave it at that!

We'll keep you updated as the tour progresses through the Americas. Hope you're liking the new CD, can't wait to see each and every one of you at a show sometime soon.

February 19, 2008

To kick off the release of our new album we're going to celebrate with a show at the Mod Club this evening. All the new material has been sounding great in rehearsal and we can't wait to get out there and play it of you. We've added a keyboard player to our gang to help cover some of the B3, organ and piano parts from the new record as well as to help shed some new light on some of the old ones. His name is Jeff Heisholt and we think we can safely say that you're in for some nice surprises at the Mod Club.

Immediately following that show we're heading out on a marathon US tour with former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley, which is awesome because he's always been our favorite member of Kiss. The tour spans the entire country in five weeks with over 20 shows! It's gonna be great. After that - we all fall down - then go to Cuba.

But not to fret Canada, we are currently working on a massive headlining Canadian tour, which would see us (in typical Trews fashion) hit every nook and cranny. It is due to start in mid-April, which will give you all plenty of time to get familiar with the songs from No Time For Later.

Make sure to check out our Media page where you can listen to the entire new album. Feel free to grab the code and add the player to your MySpace page, blog or website.

If you like what you hear, you can get the exclusive bonus track Mistress Misery only if you purchase our new album from iTunes (Canada only). This song will be available on the Canadian iTunes store for now but we are working on making it available world-wide as well. For our fans living outside of Canada, we're happy to report that our new album is available across the globe on iTunes.

To celebrate the release of our new cd, we are offering a copy of our new album bundled with a styling tee shirt for only $24.99. This offer is available for a limited time only and exclusive to our official online store. Quantities are limited, so order your bundle now.

Also check out an exclusive live performance from The Orange Lounge Sessions. The song list includes Paranoid Freak, No Time For Later, I Can't Say, Poor Old Broken Hearted Me and Hold Me In Your Arms. Click here to access the The Orange Lounge Sessions. You can also download these tracks here.

So until we meet again take care and (in the words of our friend Dave Rave) stay cool.
